Street artists transform Chicago for Bulleit

In a groundbreaking move that melds Chicago’s vibrant arts scene with a touch of frontier spirit, Bulleit Frontier Whiskey has unveiled a striking billboard campaign that harmoniously blends authentic street art with its iconic product.

This captivating series of billboards is a part of the ongoing Bulleit Pioneer Project, a long-term initiative aimed at celebrating pioneers across various fields, including art, sustainability, food, cocktails, mixology, and technology.

Partnering with New York-based agency Anomaly, Bulleit enlisted the talents of two esteemed street artists, Faust and Kate Lewis, to create visually captivating billboard designs that not only showcase the whiskey brand but also shine a spotlight on the artists’ unique styles.

Faust, renowned for his signature stylized calligraphy, has lent his artistic expertise to brands like Tiffany’s, Nike, and Apple over the years. His design for Bulleit gracefully incorporates the whiskey bottle into his distinctive artistic vision.

A winner of a county fair painting contest at one, Kate Lewis is celebrated for her “impossible geometry” patterns that have graced large-scale murals. Her contributions to the campaign add an element of creativity and intrigue to Chicago’s cityscape, as her artwork now soars high above the Windy City.

She taught and wrote curricula about masterpieces at The Art Institute of Chicago for many years before making the move to set up a studio practice at home while raising her children.

The Bulleit Pioneer Project aims to celebrate those who are pushing the boundaries in their respective fields, embodying a pioneering spirit of change and innovation. Both Faust and Lewis exemplify this spirit, constantly reinventing their artistic approaches and daring to create new techniques.

Jesse Damashek, Senior VP of Whiskeys at Diageo North America, emphasized to AdAge that Faust and Lewis epitomize the pioneer spirit, continuously pushing the boundaries of their craft and embracing change.

In Chicago, Kate Lewis’ captivating artwork graces the skyline at these locations:

  • Clark St. at Buckingham
  • Randolph at Green St
  • Wabash between Ontario & Ohio

This groundbreaking campaign not only showcases the talent of these remarkable artists but also underscores Bulleit Frontier Whiskey’s commitment to fostering creativity and innovation.

By placing art at the forefront of its advertising, Bulleit has created a compelling fusion of product promotion and artistic expression that captivates audiences and adds beauty to Chicago’s urban landscape.
