Chicago’s “Brujos” & “the T” nom’d for Streamy Awards

A pair of
Windy City
web series take
friendship and fantasy
to unique, popular,
and relevant levels

(Chicago — 3 October 2018) Chicago-made series the T (Full Spectrum Features and OTV) and Brujos (Cinema Libertad, Full Spectrum Features, and OTV) have been nominated for Best Indie Series by the Streamy Awards.

Produced by dick clark productions and presented by YouTube, the Streamys honor the best in online video and the creators behind it. The annual event brings together the biggest names in online video for a night of celebration, discovery, and meaningful recognition.

The pair of 2018 Streamy nominations for Best Indie Series from Chicago — the T and Brujos — celebrate friendship and fantasy in ways that have rarely been seen onscreen. And audiences love them.

the T
Written and directed by Bea Cordelia and Daniel Kyri, the T follows Jo (Cordelia), a trans woman craving an increasingly elusive intimacy, and Carter (Kyri), a queer Black man at odds with his conservative upbringing.

After converging for a magical New Year’s Eve night, the hangovers fade and the pair of friends from opposite sides of Chicago face awkward hook-ups, nervous dates, and the unlikely pursuit of lasting love. But at least they have each other.

Told in small, quotidian moments — by turns private, public, quietly tragic, and painfully hilarious — the T tells realer-to-life stories about the LGBTQ community than are often portrayed in mainstream media.

THE T EPISODE 1

Brujos
Written and directed by Ricardo Gamboa, Reshmi Hazra Rustebakke and Robert Stockwell, Brujos revolves around Panfilo, Brian, Jonathan, and Edwin, who come into their power with the help of their witch guide La Maestra.

Just as they begin to control their magic, the Brujos learn that they are the target of a witch hunt led by a mysterious group known as The Scientists.

The magic, mayhem, murder, and mystery levels up, and the Brujos must realize that their greatest strength is each other.

They begin to collect more Brujos — likeminded people living on the fringe — to confront The Scientists in an ultimate showdown.
