Chicago-based talent agency Stewart Talent is basking in the limelight as two of its clients, Michael Cyril Creighton and Liza Colón Zayas, have secured nominations for the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards.

The recognition comes in the category of Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series for their respective roles in Only Murders in the Building and The Bear.

Stewart made the announcement on Facebook yesterday after the SAG Award nominations came out:

“Congratulations to our clients Michael Cyril Creighton & Liza Colón Zayas who were nominated for Screen Actors Guild Awards for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series for Only Murders in the Building & The Bear respectively!”

Michael Cyril Creighton has earned acclaim for his role in the ensemble cast of Only Murders in the Building, Hulu’s hit comedy series starring Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez. The show is celebrated for its wit and mysterious plot. Creighton contributes immensely to the show for his portrayal of Howard Morris.

In the realm of film, television, and theatre, Creighton seamlessly transitions between comedic and dramatic roles. His ability to convey the delicate balance between the desire to connect and the need for self-protection has been praised by critics. Sarah Larson of The New Yorker aptly notes, “Creighton has a gift for expressing the tension between the desire to connect and the desire to protect oneself.”

His theatrical credits include noteworthy performances in productions such as the world premiere of Jordan Harrison’s The Amateurs at Vineyard Theater and the New York premiere of Sarah Ruhl’s Stage Kiss at Playwrights Horizons. His portrayal of Kevin in Stage Kiss earned him recognition as a Face to Watch by The New York Times. Additionally, he received a nomination for an Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Play.

Liza Colón Zayas

Meanwhile, Liza Colón Zayas is recognized for her stellar performance as Tina in The Bear. Colón-Zayas has made a mark with her compelling performances and impactful storytelling.

Her talent extends beyond the stage to television, where she has graced series such as Sex and the City, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and a memorable appearance in the Blue Bloods episode titled Stomping Grounds as Ana Baez, the sister of Detective Maria Baez. Colón-Zayas showcased her versatility in a guest-starring role in Dexter (season 5, episode 8), portraying the mother of Yasmin Aragon.

On the big screen, Colón-Zayas has left her mark with roles in significant films, including United 93 (2006), where she played a passenger, and Righteous Kill (2008), where she portrayed Judge Angel Rodriguez. In 2016, horror film enthusiasts witnessed her performance as Dawn in The Purge: Election Year.

The SAG Awards ceremony promises to be a momentous occasion for both nominees and the industry as a whole, showcasing the outstanding contributions of Michael Cyril Creighton and Liza Colón Zayas to the world of comedy television.

The highly anticipated event, scheduled for February 24, 2024, and produced by Silent House Productions in collaboration with SAG-AFTRA, will be globally streamed on Netflix from the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT.
