Star Wars and locally made ‘5-25-77’ double feature with Q&A

The Belvidere Cinema Gallery in conjunction with Vieutopia Motion Picture Festival present a special double feature screening of Star Wars: A New Hope and locally made 5-25-77.

The screening will take place on Saturday, May 20th at the Belvidere Cinema Gallery located inside the Belvidere Discount Mall at 2145 Belvidere Road in Waukegan, Illinois. Admission to the event is a donation to the Northern Illinois Food Pantry, and costumes are encouraged.

Director Patrick Read Johnson will be available via remote after the screening of his film 5-25-77 for a Q&A session. This is a unique live opportunity for fans to hear from the director about his film that explores Johnson’s own experiences as a young Star Wars fan growing up in northern Lake County and his journey to becoming a filmmaker. A slideshow of behind-the-scenes photographs by Jay William Stephen from the making of 5-25-77 will be projected between shows.

“We are thrilled to partner with The Belvidere Cinema Gallery for this special event,” said Theophilus Jamal, director of Vieutopia Motion Picture Festival. “It’s an honor to present both films together on the big screen for fans to enjoy.” A substantial part of 5-25-77 was produced in Waukegan and the surrounding area, where the story also takes place.

The event also serves as a fundraiser for the Northern Illinois Food Bank, a nonprofit organization providing food to families in need in the local community. Attendees are encouraged to bring a donation of non-perishable food items to support this important cause.

Costumes are encouraged for the screening, so fans can show off their love for Star Wars in style. From Stormtroopers to Jedi Knights, attendees are encouraged to let their imaginations run wild and dress up as their favorite Star Wars characters.
