Split Pillow’s collaborate doc features Chicago stories; at Chicago Filmmakers March 3-5

The production collective Split Pillow brings it “yes, and?” improv-based aesthetic to their first documentary “Chicago360.”

It premieres in a three-night engagement at Chicago Filmmakers March 3-5.

Split Pillow brought together five documentarians to create 10-minute stories, each focusing on the people of a different Chicago neighborhood.

“It’s a piece that could not have been done anywhere else,” said Jason Stephens, executive director of the nonprofit Split Pillow.

“It presents a diverse view of Chicago and some of the underground cultures and fascinating stories that make this such a great city,” Stephens continued.

“It’s not a traditional documentary ? the filmmakers have taken creative liberties with how it’s presented, and it’s visually stunning at times.”

Erik Gernand’s “A Spirit Within” explores the relationship that each of four Lakeview denizens ? a baker, a pastor, an artist and a vintage clothing proprietor ? has with the lingering resonance of the buildings and artifacts in their work and lives.
