At spring training earlier this year, White Sox general manager Ken Williams and three of the players stepped up to bat to hit home positive messages aimed at kids.
As soon as the season started, the tapes were given to Ki Editorial and Design where they were shaped into four 30-second PSAs that currently air on Comcast Sports and Comcast On Demand.
When Sox PR director Lou Hernandez gave Ki the raw footage, which had been shot against a green screen, “He put us in full control of the design and a graphics look,” said Peter Hendricks, Ki editor and project supervisor.
Besides GM Williams, messages were delivered by players Matt Thorton, Brian Anderson and Carlos Quentin telling young fans about the fun of reading, the importance of staying school, to eat nutriously and to stay away from drugs.
As part of the Sox package, Ki designed and edited 10 online “Call to Action” video messages around other footage shot at spring training by the club’s internal broadcast department.
