After more than two decades in the Chicago area, Sony Itasca is calling it quits and closing forever what had once been its sole equipment purchase and service operation between coasts.
As of June 30, 2008, what’s left of its Customer and Financial Service Organization will be consolidated within the Eastern and Western centers.
At one time Sony’s dominant sales and service business was located in its own large building at 1200 N. Arlington Heights Road in Itasca.
As technology changed the product line, Sony ultimately closed down its Itasca sales department and moved its once-convenient service department to New Jersey headquarters.
In recent years, Sony occupied a small portion of its Itasca building, renting the rest of the space to non-industry related tenants.
