Scott Smith’s collection of 40 South Shore Railroad 1920s posters go on sale March 12 at August House Studio, 2113 W Roscoe. The colorful posters had decorated the walls of Smith’s former Chicago Audio Works studio at 676 N. LaSalle. Prices for the posters in matching light oak frames run from $125 to $200.
Smith has been collecting the posters since the early ?80s when he ran across a reprint of “Winter in the Dunes” and loved its unique style and color lithography. Artist Mitch Markovitz, who recreated many of the recent posters will be a special guest at the opening night reception, 6-9 p.m., at August House.
