Six industry orgs unite for one big networking event

For the first time, six visual media-related organizations will bring their respective memberships together for the inaugural “getting to know you” Chicago Creatives Cocktail Party, Tuesday, May 26.

Leading the initiative is the Chicago Screenwriters Network (SCN) organized by its president Dante Bacani, who works in legal marketing.

He initially discussed the event idea with officers of the other organization when they were exhibiting at the recent Lake FX Summit.  “We all agreed to ‘let’s do it,” he says.

Participating organizations are Chicago Filmmakers, Chicago Screenwriters Network, IFP/Chicago, Independent Writers of Chicago, SAG-AFTRA Chicago and Women In Film Chicago.

Although membership in these organizations tend to overlap to some extent, the turnout should be considerable. Bacani estimates 200 guests could attend the inaugural event.

The plan is for each organization to host a monthly Chicago Creatives Cocktail Party.

The Cocktail Party takes place at Mrs. Murphy & Sons Irish Bistro, 3905 N. Lincoln, the venue for SCN’s monthly meetings, 5:30-7:30 p.m. No admission charge. Cash bar and full kitchen.
