Six Chicagoans among 51 AICE Award finalists

Six Chicago-based AICE editors were among the 51 finalists for the 7th Annual AICE Awards competition, which honors the art and craft of editing.

Winners will be honored May 21 at the “Editor’s Magic” awards show 2008 at Gothham Hall, New York.

The entries spanned 11 international categories, and eight Best of Chapter categories, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, New York, San Francisco and Toronto.

Chicago finalists are: Dan Maloney and Matthew Wood, The Whitehouse/Chicago for client Tide and Altoids, respectively; Bob Ackerman, Avenue Edit for Hallmark.

Best of Chicago finalists: John Dingfield, Cutters, Office Max; Craig Lewandowski and Randy Palmer, Optimus, for Kellogg’s and University of Phoenix, respectively.

L.A. based Optimus editor Jim Staskauskas was also nominated for PETA.

Judges were select panels of editors, agency creatives, and production company producers.

More than 85% of all network TV commercials edited in the U.S. and Canada are edited by AICE members. AICP is an association of 130 creative editorial companies representing more than 600 editors in the U.S. and Canada.
