Scott Dikkers to make splash as animation house

Rep Liz Laine’s reputation preceded her when she received a call out of the blue from Scott Dikkers, the multi-talented filmmaker, director, cartoonist, most famously associated with “The Onion” and its various filmic offshoots.

In talking to reps in New York, where he lives, about getting into animated spots, Laine’s name up as the rep to consult, since she specializes exclusively in animation.

“Scott had started The Cartoon Company with the idea of creating children’s animated shorts, the kind of G-rated work he could share with his young son and his grandmother,” Laine relates.

“He had never created an animated spot before and wanted to know what was out there,” she says.

Dikkers told Laine he wanted “a voice of reason” to tell him if advertising animation was a feasible market for him.

“What will be attractive to agencies is your edge,” Laine accurately predicted, as she had no trouble pitching The Cartoon Company for a $1 million viral animated project out of the Midwest after she and Dikkers connected.
