Schafer Condon Carter has named Cara Wetters chief media officer, bringing an 18-year holding company veteran into its executive leadership team as SCC continues to strengthen the connection between media and creative.

Wetters officially joined the agency October 26 and will lead SCC’s media practice, overseeing capabilities, talent and structure while pushing for closer collaboration across disciplines.

“What drew me to SCC was the opportunity to help build something alongside people who believe creative and media should shape the work together from the start,” Wetters said.

She added that the independent structure – including direct access to decision-makers and the ability to move quickly on strong ideas – was a major draw.

Wetters spent more than a decade at Spark Foundry, where she most notably led media strategy and operations for Starbucks. Her client experience also includes Kimberly-Clark, Meijer, Dairy Queen, Morgan Stanley, Pier 1, State Farm and Molson Coors.

Across those assignments, Wetters has worked with client teams navigating major change while building media teams and operating models from the ground up.

At SCC, her mandate will be to bring media thinking further upstream in the creative process, helping connect idea development with where and how those ideas ultimately reach audiences.

“Clients need creative that moves people and media that makes it work harder,” said Ben Behrman, president and CEO of SCC. “Having both under one roof lets us build work together around the same business goal.”

Behrman said media has already become a significant growth driver for the agency and described Wetters as a leader with experience earning senior client trust, growing business and developing teams.

Her appointment continues a period of leadership investment at SCC, following the addition of Chief Growth Officer Liam Boyle.

For the Chicago shop, the move reinforces a model built around keeping creative, media and senior leadership close together rather than operating them as separate silos.

And for Wetters, that means helping shape not just where SCC’s work runs, but how it gets made in the first place.
