MIGUEL SILVEIRA of Pangea Media Productions screened a preview of his IFP/Chicago Production Fund-wining short “Rooftop Wars” at the IFP Holiday Party last Thursday.
Set on the roofs of Pilsen, “Rooftop Wars” follows a group of Mexican American children playing out fantasies of war as a parade marches past on the streets below.
“When the game escalates to dangerous levels, one of them has to make the ultimate sacrifice to save the rest,” says producer Andrew Eick. The film cast neighborhood children and utilized vendors from the community.
As winner of the Production Fund, “Rooftop Wars” enjoyed $100,000 in in-kind goods and services from local vendors. Andrew Eick produced. Executive producer, Jerry Napier. Co-producer, John Otterbacher of Orange Chair Productions (“Riff Raff”). DP, Kuba Zelazek.
