Rep Yo City is doing just that ? showcasing a roster of hip hop and R&B artists and models who represent talent in six large urban areas, through a variety of cross-platforms.
Partners Shaun “Slim Cutta” Cave and DJ Chris Battle are readying their next video compilation, focusing on Chicago and Northwest Indiana performers, for a Christmas release.
Rep Yo City’s artists from Chicago, Atlanta, Miami, Houston, Virginia and North Carolina will be seen through its web site, DVD compilations, DJ mixes, and an in-development TV series.
Rep Yo City grew out of a failed pilot that Cave and Battle pitched to BET, called “1865,” an educational program for urban youth promoting historical understanding and social awareness. BET told the producers “people want something more entertaining,” Cave said.
