Actor/writer/producer Trevor Anthony states he has the experience and moxie to make it big in Hollywood. And he’s willing to sell a piece of his ultimate success to investors on Ebay. “With this purchase we’ll start in the red and end in the GOLD,” he promises. “Invest in my dream and I’ll take you along.” To date, the $24 response to his ad won’t quite get him to Sunset Blvd., but it is a creative bid for attention. Knowing how difficult to sell a show to local TV stations, a round of applause for producer/host Jenniffer Weigel. Her new lifestyle magazine show, called “Taste,” bows on Ch. 5, Fridays at 11:30 a.m. The show will focus on food in all its forms. Wayne Johnson, Ch. 5’s “domestic diva,” will be a contributor.

Three-time nominees Dante Ariola of MJZ and Noam Murro of Biscuit Filmworks, MJZ’s Fredrik Bond, Andrew Douglas of Anonymous Content and Hungry Man’s Jim Jenkins are up for the DGA’s prestigious Commercial Achievement Award. The winner will be announced at the 57th Annual Awards Dinner Jan. 29 in L.A.

Paul Oddo has attended two Local 476 meetings since his return to Chicago. He is at the Rehab Center where he is receiving treatment for the stroke he suffered in L.A. in November.

Sound/Video Impressions started 2005 by installing an Adrenalin Avid in one of its three edit suites, and installed a ProTools System in its second edit suite. First project of 2005: A product training video for Softsheen-Carson haircare products.

When Spike Lee was in Chicago last month to shoot a Nike commercial, DP Ellen Kouras used a Schumacher Camera Arri 535B, with a full set of Zeiss Prime lenses.

Christopher Jones has added a new dimension to his career as spot writer/director for Cadillac Bros. A comedy student at The Second City Training Center, he has co-written a revue with four fellow writers. “Mankind & Other Oxymorons” plays through Feb. 4 at Donny’s Skybox, Piper’s Alley. Actor Ben Vereen will ably stand in for James Earl Jones at the Feb. 10 “Conversations in the Arts” Columbia College lecture series. Jones cancelled due to rehearsals for Broadway’s “On Golden Pond.”

With Panavision’s purchase of Canada’s William F. White’s camera inventory, Panavision now will offer camera rentals other than its own. The purchase includes Sony F-900s, Arricams, Arri435s and Arri SR3s, plus lenses and accessories. Equipment will be moved out by Feb. 5.
