PIONEER EDITORS HONORED. Three spot editors from back in the day who virtually invented the modern post house will be inducted into the AICE Hall of Fame at the AICE national meeting in Chicago May 13. They are Optimus founder Jimmy Smyth, Post Pro’s Bob Blanford and Edit Chicago co-founder Tony Izzo. Their 90-second presentation reels are being edited by, respectively, Red Car’s Bob Carr, a long-time Optimus editor; Tom Brassil of Outsiders and Blanford’s son-in-law and Ki’s Anthony Izzo, whose relationship to Tony needs no explanation.

FEATURE STUFF. The new George Tillman-Bob Teitel movie, “Roll Bounce,” is due to set up shop here in July ? this time for Fox, and not MGM as the “Barbershops” were. UPM is Jeremiah Samuels… The producers of the remake of “The Amityville Horror” are seriously looking at Illinois. We hear they’d like to build the “Horror” house on Park District land. A sequel is even on the drawing boards and that means they’d keep the house here.

DOTS & DASHES. We hear that Walgreen’s is going to renew its classy “Walgreen’s Health Corner” series, produced by Tom Engel and… McDonald’s signed with Discovery Networks’ “Trading Spaces: Family” to have the redecorating reality show spruce up a Ronald McDonald House… LaSalle Bank is the official bank for the White Sox through the end of the 2008 baseball season. LaSalle will have an exclusive retail banking, sponsorship and advertising presence at Sox Park… Final count: the Chicago/Illinois Screenwriting Competition yielded 292 entries, just nine short of last year’s entries.

THE NEXT MARTHA STEWART? Wayne Johnson, former Leo Burnett art director and creative recruiter won out over some 3,000 contestants in the first-ever “Domestic Diva” competition sponsored by NBC’s “Today Show.” He was chosen by the public from a group of finalists who showed their stuff in cooking, flower arranging and arts and crafts.

PEOPLE BEAT. Senior art director Greg King joined Ebel Signorelli Welke to work on the Car-X account. Earlier he’d been with JWT, Leo Burnett and Lois/EJL… Carolyn Perzan will spend the next six months in L.A. as assistant set decorator on the new Vin Diesel actioner, “Triple X 2″… Mike Cheney’s new Chicago oil paintings and drawings can be viewed at Atlas Galleries on Michigan and Ohio. He’s a principal of Coil Counts Ford & Cheney… Chicago Story’s Mark Androw, DDB’s Greg Popp and Element 79’s Dennis Ryan were among 400 judges on the AICP final jury to select the commercials we’ll see in the AICP show next November.
