Let’s find out more about Jeremy.

What’s your origin story?
I am an award-winning Creative Director whose roots trace back to the community of Freeport, IL. Still, it was in Chicago where I cultivated my creative prowess, earning accolades and recognition along the way. Throughout my career, I’ve been privileged to spearhead a myriad of large-scale experiences and live music events, collaborating with some of the foremost influential figures on a global stage. Driven by an unwavering passion for innovation, my journey culminated in creating Project Art Collective, a dynamic creative studio headquartered in the heart of Chicago. We create immersive experiences that captivate audiences worldwide. One of my crowning achievements includes steering the creative direction and production for the critically acclaimed Tupac Shakur: Wake Me When I’m Free museum.

How did you get into Advertising/Creative Services?
My journey into the world of marketing and crafting unforgettable brand experiences began during my college days at NIU. Fueled by a passion for creating connections, I started by organizing events that quickly gained attention. This initial foray into event planning earned me a decent reputation and opened doors that would eventually lead me to the city of Chicago.

As my reputation grew, so did the scope of my influence. Invitations to host events at premier nightclubs in Chicago became a testament to the resonance of the experiences I curated. What started as a college endeavor seamlessly evolved into a professional trajectory, weaving together my love for marketing, event planning, and the art of creating immersive brand experiences.

What did your parents think you would be?
My parents thought I would go to school to be a lawyer. However, life had other plans, and my true calling emerged. Ultimately, my journey became a testament to the unpredictable nature of life’s journey, where unexpected detours often lead to the most fulfilling destinations.

Who were your mentors?
Forgive the sentimentality, but I can’t help but acknowledge that my most significant wellspring of inspiration comes from none other than my parents. The nurturing warmth and boundless love that emanated from my mother left an indelible mark on my heart. Meanwhile, my father’s unwavering dedication to providing for our family has become a steadfast beacon, guiding my every step even today.

Though perhaps sounding cliché, their influences have woven the fabric of who I am. It’s a testament to familial love and commitment’s profound impact on shaping an individual’s character. In their seemingly ordinary gestures, I discovered extraordinary lessons that continue to resonate in my journey, reminding me that genuine care and steadfast dedication are virtues that stand the test of time.

Bravest thing you’ve done?
The boldest chapter of my journey unfolded when I decided to drop out of college and chase my dreams within the realm of event production. In that pivotal moment, I chose the path less traveled, propelled by an unyielding passion for creating resonating experiences.

It wasn’t a decision made lightly but rather a courageous leap into the unknown. Departing from the conventional academic route, I embraced the unpredictable journey of pursuing my aspirations in the event production space. Though daunting, this bold choice marked the genesis of a transformative period where challenges became opportunities, and risks evolved into stepping stones toward realizing my dreams. Looking back on that defining moment, I recognize it as the bravest and most empowering choice I’ve made—an act of defiance against the ordinary in pursuit of the extraordinary.

How do you handle failure?
Facing failure head-on has become my compass for growth. I’ve learned to embrace mistakes not as setbacks but as invaluable lessons that propel me forward. Instead of shying away, I tackle failures with a tenacity to understand, dissect, and extract the wisdom they conceal.

Each misstep is an opportunity to refine, innovate, and improve things. Failure is not a dead end but a crossroad, a chance to recalibrate and evolve. Through this approach, I’ve come to appreciate that success isn’t just about avoiding failure; it’s about using setbacks as stepping stones towards continuous improvement and achievement.

What do you do to pump yourself up?
Every sunrise brings excitement, fueled by the four powerful reasons that infuse my days with purpose and enthusiasm—my precious babies. They are my lifeline, the heartbeat of my existence. My every endeavor, every stride I take, is a dedicated step towards crafting a future where they can unfurl their dreams.

The privilege of waking up each day to pursue something I love is a blessing I hold close to my heart. It’s not just about personal fulfillment; it’s about providing for the ones I cherish most.

What drives you to create?
Life is my perpetual muse, a ceaseless inspiration that fuels my creative spirit. Being alive, basking in the vibrant kaleidoscope of colors, inhaling the myriad of scents, and engaging with the diverse tapestry of people around me is a continual source of motivation.

What TV series, movies or ads are portraying powerful, inspirational Black images in 2023?
Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur is a significant one for me, as it introduces Lunella Lafayette, a young African-American girl, as the title character who’s a superhero. Having a Black girl superhero is a powerful way to break stereotypes and provide a relatable role model for young Black girls.

What is the biggest challenge to Black people in your industry?
In the dynamic landscape of the event industry, one of the most significant challenges facing Black individuals is the issue of opportunity. While making strides toward inclusion, there remains a noticeable need for more representation for people who look like me once you delve into the production and creation of large-scale events.

Breaking into this industry requires skill, passion, and the chance to showcase one’s capabilities. The underrepresentation of Black individuals in critical roles within the event industry creates a barrier that must be dismantled. By fostering equal opportunities, we can unlock the potential of diverse talents, ideas, and perspectives that contribute to the richness and innovation of event production. It’s not just about leveling the playing field; it’s about creating a stage where everyone, regardless of their background, has a chance to shine.

Is it time to let the Will Smith incident go?
100000%

When you’re not creating, what do you do in your off time?
I love to just sit at home and enjoying my family.

What are your guilty pleasures?
I really love Beverly Hills Cops. I probably could watch 1 & 2 once a week.

Predict your future! Where are you in 5 years?
I envision a path where my actions resonate beyond personal accomplishments, but I will be a vessel for positive change, inspiration and empowering others to reach their aspirations.
