Quriosity Productions banks on Sophia Banks

Sophia Banks

Quriosity Productions has added a major creative force to its roster, signing acclaimed director Sophia Banks for commercial and branded content representation. The announcement was made by Quriosity Founder & Executive Producer Qadree Holmes and Executive Producer Mark Conley.

Based in Los Angeles, Banks is best known for blending cinematic visuals with bold, emotionally resonant storytelling. Her directorial range spans feature films, long-form series, commercials, and fashion films.

She made her feature debut with the 2022 Netflix action-thriller Black Site, and her 2019 sci-fi short Unregistered premiered in competition at the Tribeca Film Festival. Currently, she’s attached to direct a high-profile film about Bitcoin founder Satoshi Nakamoto, penned by The Umbrella Academy’s Mark Goffman.

In the commercial world, Banks broke through with a high-fashion campaign for Christian Siriano, which featured models skateboarding through downtown L.A. Her showreel showcases campaigns for Target, Land Rover, Pepsi, Airbnb, Barbie, Ford, BMW, and celebrity labels like Kendall + Kylie and Sofia Vergara.

“Sophia’s work is as diverse as Quriosity is,” noted Holmes. “She has fashion, beauty, dialogue, lifestyle — and most amazing is her work with cars! Her sense of style is extremely sophisticated, and as you can see from her experience, she’s a total badass.”

Banks was introduced to Quriosity through Texas-based sales rep Julie Koellner. “Our sales team — Julie, Sarah Gitersonke, Bobby Rowe, Sabrina Mehar, and Lisa Schreiber Nabor — are our hidden weapons,” said Conley. “The moment we connected with Sophia, we knew we had to work together. Her artistic eye and producer’s mindset give clients and agencies complete confidence.”

Commenting on her new partnership, Banks shared: “I was drawn to Quriosity because of its reputation for championing unique creative voices and pushing the boundaries of commercial storytelling. Their commitment to diversity, innovation, and high-quality filmmaking aligns perfectly with my own approach to directing.”

In addition to directing, Banks brings extensive producing experience. She co-produced Julian Schnabel’s Hand of Dante (Focus Features) starring Oscar Isaac, Gal Gadot, and Al Pacino, and served as executive producer on Paul Schrader’s Oh Canada, which premiered at Cannes 2024. She is also executive producing Blood On Snow with Benedict Cumberbatch and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, directed by Cary Fukunaga.

“These experiences have heightened her abilities as a director,” said Conley. “Sophia sees the entire project from start to finish. She’s an artist with a producer’s brain, which makes our job easier and helps ensure smooth collaborations for brands.”

Beyond the screen, Banks brings real-world adventure to her résumé. She took part in the Department of Defense’s Joint Civilian Orientation Conference (JCOC) — an immersive bootcamp-style week spent shadowing the military and touring CIA HQ. The experience gave her unique insight into American institutions and sharpened her approach to directing large-scale, high-stakes narratives.

“My goal is to bring high-impact, cinematic visuals to brands that want bold storytelling with an emotional heartbeat,” said Banks. “I’m excited to create work that’s fresh, elevated, and unforgettable.”

As Quriosity continues to expand its footprint in both branded and long-form content, Banks is a natural fit for its mission. “We’re expecting huge things from Sophia,” added Conley. “She’s fearless, wildly talented, and we’re lucky to have her.”
