Pete and the crew at Chicago’s ProGear Rental are busy packing up their cameras, lenses, lighting equipment and everything else that keeps a production rolling as the company prepares to move a few blocks away into a new 5,800-square-foot facility at 452 N. Claremont Avenue.
The new location officially opens October 26, 2026, bringing expanded inventory capacity, easier loading and unloading, improved customer access and something every Chicago production professional can appreciate. Plenty of free parking.
The move takes ProGear less than a mile from its longtime headquarters at 1740 W. Carroll Avenue, keeping the rental house in familiar territory while providing a modernized space designed to better accommodate its growing business.
And, as the ProGear team happily points out, they’ll no longer be next door to the city’s garbage facilities. That’s another welcome improvement!
Nearly two decades serving Chicago’s creative community
Founded in 2008, ProGear Rental began as a rental house dedicated to professional still photography and motion picture equipment. Over the past 18 years, the company has served photographers, filmmakers, cinematographers and production crews with an extensive selection of cameras, lenses, lighting and other essential production gear.
But equipment is only part of the business. ProGear has built its reputation around knowledgeable staff, practical advice and personalized service, helping customers find the right tools for their projects.

New space, same commitment
The updated facility will provide additional room for equipment inventory and more convenient logistics for customers picking up or returning rentals. With improved loading access and free parking, the move addresses some of the everyday challenges that come with managing production equipment in Chicago.
For ProGear, the relocation represents another chapter in a business that has spent nearly two decades supporting the city’s photography and filmmaking community.
