Producer’s first feature set entirely in elevator

“Double Negative,” corporate producer Dana Scott’s first narrative feature, entirely set in an elevator, starts shooting in January. “This is the story of two strangers who are caught in an elevator that is falling bit-by-bit,” Scott says.

Scott of 24 Truth Productions, a Skokie-based corporate producer, directs, produces, edits and stars in the feature, with her longtime friend, Mischa Ayoub, the screenwriter.

“These two unlikely friends — a ?today’s the due date’ nine months pregnant single mom and an OCD, coke-addicted corporate president of sales — are forced to deal with their demons, and each other, in a sometimes dramatic and sometimes comedic way,” Scott says.

Scott and Ayoub acted together in the local indie feature “Three Flat.” Ayoub returned to Chicago last August after eight years in Toronto, where he was a writer and editor for his wife’s company Katie Ayoub Editorial Services.

“We have often discussed producing a piece ourselves and last summer I approached him as a writer asking if he had any scripts that could be produced on a small budget,” Scott says.

David Christopher Krause of Big Works, Inc. is building the elevator set at Burlingham Studio in Evanston, the production facility owned by “Double Negative” DP Bill Burlingham.

“I was introduced to Bill through production work with Covert Creative Group when we shot a few green screen projects in his studio,” Scott says. “Bill came on board due to his love for the script and I am thrilled about what I know his eye will bring to the piece.”
