Producer mum on new matchmaker reality show

Life/Style Television is producing the half-hour reality series “The Match Off,” pitting competing matchmakers against one another to successfully find the right match for the singles who appear on the show.

Stephanie Kurtz, Life/Style Chicago bureau chief and Chicago supervising producer of “The Match Off,” was casting for singles March 22-24, taking submissions at matchoffcasting@gmail.com.

Kurtz declined to discuss details of the show on the record, referring inquiries to representatives of Life/Style parent company NBC/Universal, who also declined to comment.

LX.TV started as a New York cable station and was acquired by NBC/U in 2007. A former producer and writer for Metromix TV on CLTV, Kurtz opened the Life/Style Chicago bureau in August 2008.

She’s also Chicago supervising producer for LX.TV luxury home design series “Open House,” running Sundays at 10:30 a.m., and luxury entertainment series “1st Look,” running Sunday mornings at Midnight.

Crewing productions almost entirely with its five local staff, the Chicago bureau produces all the local and Midwest segments for the shows, which are based out of New York and also include content produced at LX.TV’s Los Angeles bureau.

“Our field producers also do lighting and sound,” Kurtz says. “We’re very compact. We’re able to stay afloat that way.”

They’ve recently produced segments on chef Art Smith’s Table Fifty-Two, the Chicago Human Rhythm Project, the International Motorcycle Show, and apron designer Valerie Reed of Valcooks LLC.

The Chicago Bureau also produces segments for the semi-regular series “My 1st Time,” including packages for the episodes “My 1st Inauguration,” “My 1st Olympics,” and “My 1st Oscars.”
