The extremely popular STARZ series, Power Book IV: Force began filming Season 2 in Chicago back in May. Fast forward to today, the Force crew was spotted filming on S. Troy Street to complete their last day of filming on location for Season 2.
The production is preparing to wrap principal photography on the stages at Cinespace Studios on Tuesday, October 25th.
The crime series centers on Tommy Egan (Joseph Sikora), who leaves New York following the death of his best friend and business partner, James “Ghost” St. Patrick’s (Omari Hardwick.) However, according to a recent Instagram post by Sikora, could it be that Ghost is making a miraculous return?
“Is Ghost Alive or dead? That’s all I want to know.”
Tommy has set his sights on entering the drug game in Chicago. And of course, he’ll make his mark the only way he knows how.
The series is filmed entirely on location in Sikora’s hometown of Chicago and at Cinespace Chicago Film Studios. All around, the production has gone smoothly. There were no major incidents with 5 months of filming on locations all over Chicago.
Season 2 was scheduled to wrap back on October 21st. Those additional days can be chalked up to a Covid event that shut down a full day of production, along with other minor set backs.
One interesting day of production occurred at the abandoned historic Uptown Theatre that was used as a location for a massive gun fight. The gun fight was supposed to take place at the CBI Warehouse, but after a minor incident involving a local resident and a member of production, the production decided it would be best for everyone’s well being to find another location.
Only days before filming that scene, they were lucky enough to land the Uptown Theatre for two days.
On the first day of shooting at the Uptown Theatre, the production took over N Broadway, much to the chagrin of some of the locals, including using a drone camera for a few set ups.
On the second day of filming at the abandoned Uptown Theatre, over 3,000 rounds of ammunition were used for the big action scene. The following day, Lisa Demaine, producer and director on Force, thanked the cast for their professionalism in the handling of weapons and for taking gun safety seriously.
What’s in store for Tommy Egan for Season 2? Will Tommy come out on top of the Chicago drug game? What happens with the Flynns? How do JP and Diamond mend their differences? Is Sikora pulling our leg or is Ghost making a comeback? We’ll have to wait and see. STARZ reports that Season 2 premieres in late 2022 or early 2023.
