Central City Production’s “The Minority Business Report,” a staple of WGN syndication for 18 years, has been transformed into an updated, upscale weekly magazine show.
“The Black Enterprise Report” utilizes the editorial expertise of Black Enterprise Magazine of New York. It’s the Fortune-like publication’s first entr?e into television.
Post Effects designed a special two-level cyberset to give the show a state-of-the-art look to replace the outdated anchor-desk set of “TMBR.”
PE’s Jim White directs the cyberset portions where host Darryl Dennard introduces field-produced segments based on the magazine’s news and special departments.
Editing and post on the show is handled at Ch. 9, the Chicago outlet. The half-hour show will run for 26 weeks in syndication to 220 cable and broadcast markets.
Post Effect has the Midwest’s only cyberset. Purchased in 1997 at an original cost at just under $1 million, the set was used with brand variations for Bill Kurtis’ introductions on all five of his shows (“American Justice,” “Investigative Reports”) when Kurtis shows aired five nights a week over A&E.
The cyberset has enjoyed “heavy use in hundreds of corporate presentations for companies like Motorola, Microsoft and Abbott Labs,” noted PE’s Mike Fayette.
White has directed corporate and commercials and is now producing TV shows in association with Post Effects.
Post Effects is at 400 W. Erie; phone, 312/944-1690.
