Police in Rosemont say they are “committed to investigating” Tara Reid’s allegation that she was drugged at a hotel bar near Chicago over the weekend. The 50-year-old actress told officers she “completely blacked out” for hours after having a drink with a man she had just met at the DoubleTree Hotel in Rosemont.
In a statement to People, the Rosemont Public Safety Department said, “The Rosemont Public Safety Department understands the severity of the allegations being reported and are committed to investigating this incident fully. At this point, we are in communication with the hotel to gather as much video surveillance as possible.” Police added that the case remains open and no further information is available.
Footage obtained by TMZ from Sunday night shows Reid appearing disoriented in the hotel lobby. At one point, she slips from a wheelchair before being helped back into it. Paramedics later take her out on a stretcher.
According to the police report filed with Rosemont authorities, Reid told officers she was in the lobby with “a bunch of YouTubers” and felt something was off since many had their phones out recording. She said she stepped outside with one of the men and returned to find “a napkin over my drink.” Reid told police, “The last thing I remember was drinking that drink and seeing a couple sitting next to us. The next thing I remember was waking up in the hospital around eight hours or more later not knowing where I was or anything that happened. I completely blacked out with no recollection of anything.”
Reid also claimed that the influencer she met later sent her videos from the night, which she interpreted as an attempt to pressure or extort her. She told police he said he “could stop the videos going out” and acknowledged that she only consumed one drink of wine.
The actress said she is “willing to prosecute.” Police confirm they are reviewing surveillance footage from the property. Reid is best known for her roles in American Pie, Van Wilder, and The Big Lebowski.
