Peters’ Dreamscape Cinema wraps “Angst,” third feature in three years for Champaign company

Robin Peters of Based-based Dreamscape Cinema wraps production in mid-July on his third feature in three years, the independent comedy-drama “Angst.”

Peters’ co-writer Michael Muhney (“Veronica Mars”) stars as a an insensitive young actor who goes undercover as an old man to land a role in a Broadway-bound play, and is forced to learn respect for his elders to rebuild his life and relationships.

“It’s like ?Tootsie’ or ?Mrs. Doubtfire’?they don’t know he’s not old,” Peters said. “We got incredible performances all around” from a cast that includes Eddie Jones (“The Terminal”), Pat Morita (“The Karate Kid”), Max Gail (“Barney Miller”), Adrienne Frantz (“The Bold and the Beautiful”) and Amber Benson (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer”).

Peters, who writes and directs under his first and middle name Robin Christian, raised the under-$500,000 budget from private investors.

He plans to wrap post within six months and directly approach studio contacts for distribution.

“We’ll shoot for a theatrical release,” Peters said. “We’re very confident we’ll get video and cable down the road. We’re doing high quality films with great character actors that will carry the story.”

DP John Luker (“White Fang”) started shooting in Champaign and Chicago June 19 on Dreamscape’s HD camera.
