Chicago director Patricia Frontain’s Caribbean romance is ready for its television debut. Terry McMillan Presents: Paradise with You, starring Taye Diggs, Heather Hemmens and Cynthia Bailey, premieres Saturday, November 7, at 7 p.m. Central on Lifetime. The network has released a first look at the film through a new trailer.
Reel Chicago first reported on the production in March, following Frontain’s return from filming on the Caribbean island of Nevis. The movie now joins Lifetime’s Love of a Lifetime slate with a story about two people whose fresh starts take an unexpected turn.
A romance with competing plans
Diggs stars as Carter, an NFL superstar approaching retirement who retreats to Nevis to consider what comes next. There, he meets Simone, played by Hemmens, an interior decorator rebuilding her life after betrayal.
Their connection offers the possibility of a new beginning, until they discover they are competing for the same coveted estate. Suddenly, finding room for each other means reconsidering the futures they had imagined for themselves. Bailey co-stars, along with Troy Brookins and SwagBoyQ.
The new trailer, offers a look at the cast and the island setting ahead of the November premiere.
From Chicago to the Caribbean
For Chicago’s production community, Frontain is a familiar colleague whose career has taken her from the script supervisor’s chair on Chicago P.D. to directing a growing list of television movies. Her Lifetime directing debut, Twisted Sister, premiered in 2023. Subsequent credits include Surviving the Sleepover, Murder in Nashville and Dead Girl Summer.
Paradise with You brought her to Nevis for a location shoot supported by the Nevis Film Commission and Nevis Tourism Authority. Filming took place across the island, incorporating its beaches, historic estates and volcanic scenery. Local cast, crew and production partners also contributed to the project.
Frontain directed from a screenplay by Ejay Jamison. The Ninth House produced the film in association with Motion Entertainment, with Autumn Federici, Jake Helgren and Shelby Stone producing. Taye Diggs, Heather Hemmens and Terry McMillan serve as executive producers, alongside Chet Fenster for Motion Entertainment.
Beyond her film work, Frontain founded Patrick Lives On, the nonprofit supporting youth programs and arts education that brings Chicago’s production community together through its annual Film Showcase and Fundraiser.
Terry McMillan Presents: Paradise with You premieres November 7 at 7 p.m. Central on Lifetime.
