Paramount sued for brain injury to “T3” extra

Paramount was hit with a lawsuit Tuesday by the family of 24-year old Gabriela Cedillo, the Chicago extra who was injured this summer during the filming of “Transformers 3” in Hammond.

The lawsuit, filed in Cook County Circuit Court, blames negligence by the movie’s producers that resulted in serious injuries and permanent brain damage. Cedillo has been at Loyola Medical Center in Maywood since the injury.

“Gabriela suffered a severe open head trauma,” said her lawyer, Todd A. Smith of the law form Power, Rogers & Smith. A guardian for Cedilla filed the lawsuit.

“T3” director Michael Bay is not a defendant in the lawsuit.

In response to the lawsuit, Paramount issued a statement. “We are all terribly sorry that this accident occurred. Our thoughts, prayers and best wishes are with Gabriela, her family and loved ones.

“The production will continue to provide all the help we can to Gabriela and her family during this difficult time.”
