Kiss ‘n’ Ride, the new animated short film and romantic ode to love in Chicago, created by Chicago-based director Olivia Jensen, is set to release publicly on November 3rd.
Animated entirely by one person over the course of the pandemic, Kiss ‘n’ Ride debuted to considerable film festival success, screening at over 25 festivals around the world including multiple Academy Award-qualifying festivals, as well as around the Chicago area.
Kiss ‘n’ Ride was created in the Chicagoland area, with Jensen hoping to make a film about the unique feelings the city can stoke in the heart. In the film, we see a young woman leave a first date, walking through the Chicago streets and traveling home aboard the Metra. She begins to see the face of her new love all throughout the city. Jensen created the film based on her own personal experience of dating in Chicago.
“This film is based on the true story of my first date with my now-husband,” Jensen explains. “I made this film in hopes of connecting with other hopeless romantics, and as a love letter to Chicago winters and traveling.”
Previously, Jensen animated and directed the student film waiting by the phone at DePaul University, which went on to receive a number of film festival accolades.
Kiss ‘n’ Ride will be available to view for the first time outside of festivals on Jensen’s Vimeo page on November 3rd.
