Ogilvy Chicago wins 17 Clios

Monday, The Clio Awards, which were recently acquired by Evolution Media, announced their 2017 Gold, Silver and Bronze winners.

The 58-year-old awards celebrate high achievement in advertising and recognize the work, the agencies that push boundaries across advertising, sports, fashion, music, entertainment, and health care.

As it did in the recent 2017 Cannes Show, Ogilvy Chicago showed they are an agency to be reckoned with by bringing home an astounding seventeen Clios.

Client, SC Johnson was awarded 13 of the 17 for the Kiwi Quality Shoe Care “Portraits Completed” campaign which takes a humorous look at the world’s most famous paintings and adds something that both client and agency felt like were missing – shoes.

A gold went to the agency for their OOH featuring Cezanne. This was followed by nine silvers in print and outdoor. Finally, three bronze as well.

Not stopping there, the agency also took home four Bronze for their Morton Salt’s “The One Moment,” a pupil-dilating branded effort featuring OK GO, the Chicago rock band known for visually striking music videos.

The video is part of the brand’s “Walk Her Walk” brand platform inspired by the iconic Morton Salt Girl, which calls on viewers to “step up and become a force for good in the world.” Kicking off the master brand’s first campaign in its 168-year history, “The One Moment” features the Chicago quartet’s new song and precisely 4.2 seconds of footage.

The spot opens with the action taking place in real-time and then slows down the footage as the song plays, making for a unique and intriguing watching experience meant to illustrate the message that “It only takes one moment to make a difference.”

Other Chicago winners included Leo Burnett which entered the Hall of Fame for their Procter & Gamble 2013 online Tampax film, “Zack.” Helmed by Smuggler’s Randy Krallman, the film follows the misadventures of 16-year-old Zack Johnson as he learns what it’s like to live with girl parts.

Burnett’s infamous Samsung “Ostrich” spot took home Gold, Silver and Bronze as well.

EnergyBBDO’s “Curious Afterlife” for Altoids
EnergyBBDO also won for their Altoids campaign, “The Curious Afterlife of a Tin.” And another Bronze went to the Wrigley Building resident for their Bayer “Herosmiths” campaign.

DigitasLBI was also represented for their Whirlpool work. The Clios will be held September 27 at The Tent at Lincoln Center in New York City and hosted by SNL cast member and Oak Park’s, Cecily Strong.
