BullsTV, the Chicago Bulls in-house production arm, was the big winner with triple awards for in the categories of non-broadcast-produced programming, at Sunday night’s Midwest Chapter Awards at the Radisson Aqua Blu Hotel.
BullsTV team of Brad Siegel Josh Kahn, Chris Ramirez and Michelle Harris won the trifecta for “A Chicago Bulls Holiday Moment,” in the categories of Arts/Entertainment Programming: Segment; Technical Achievement and Director-Postproduction.
Double Emmy statuettes went to Fleishman Hillard/Compass Public Affairs and Bitter Jester and Suite the LiveLab received one.
Fleishman Hillard winning entries were for “Get Covered Illinois,” the state’s enrollment for Affordable Health Care, winning for Outstanding Achievement for Public Affairs/Current Affairs Programming: Program Special and the other entry won in the same category for Segment.
Bitter Jester’s duo Emmys won for the pilot of “The Engagement Party,” for Outstanding Crafts Achievement Off Air: Lighting and “The Chicago Restaurant Pastry Competition, Season 3, Off –Air Director, Live.
Single winners were Barry Krause’s Suite the LiveLab won for “A Servant’s Heart,” Special Event Coverage Live/Edited; Terra Nova Films for “Compassion for Those We Love: A Town Meeting on Caregiving for Alzheimer’s in the Hispanic Community,” Current Affairs Programming: Program/Special.
Individual honors were received by singer/songwriter Nicholas Tremulis, for Musical Composition/Arrangement for a WTTW/11 documentary to Craig Leffel, producer on a Ch. 5 promo campaign.
WYCC/20 telecast the two-hour awards ceremonies for the first time in 25 years, which plans to also handle the 2015 telecast. The live show was attended by 700 guests.
