“Nightmare on Elm’s” new Freddy Krueger

THE NEW FREDDY KRUEGER, who can be seen behind a mask in “Watchmen,” will be wearing the iconic glove in the latest iteration of “Nightmare on Elm Street.”

Jackie Earle Haley will star, taking over the role originated by Robert Englund. Haley is a former child actor, who received an Oscar nomination for his spooky role in the Kate Winslet starrer, “Little Children.”

“Nightmare” stars filming May 5 at Chicago Studio City, now in the throes of building sets. According to the CFO, it’s the only Hollywood entertainment project currently on the books.

WE DO HEAR, however, that there’s an excellent chance that the A&E series, “The Beast,” will return to Chicago for another season.
