New Media Summit Launch is set for June 5
with a prestigious panel at the Cultural Center

The Chicago New Media Summit Launch on June 5 will set the stage for the actual Summit itself, which will be held sometime in early fall, instead of the originally announced June 5 date.

The Summit launches with a high-profile panel discussion and performances will take place at the Chicago Cultural Center.

Panel moderator is Bruce DuMont, founder of the Museum of Broadcast Television and host of radio’s “Beyond the Beltway.” Brandon Copple, managing editor of Crain’s Chicago Business, and advertising guru Marshall Ross, chief creative officer for Cramer-Krasselt are panelists.

More high profile panelists and attendees will be announced as the movement continues to generate buzz and followers in the coming weeks, said John Patterson, Summit founder/CEO and director of development at Pixel Brothers, who initiated the idea.

The Summit’s purpose is to provide an open forum for ideas and collaboration, while positioning Chicago as the New Media Capital of the world, Patterson said.

Initial expectations, however, had to be revised after an unexpectedly large response came in from many diverse disciplines to participate in the Summit.

More than 430 “thought leaders” have already joined the Summit’s social networking site, including Lora LeSage of NBC5, and ABC7’s Jerry Taft and Lou Canellis.

Representatives have signed up from Apple, Harpo, CBS, the Chicago Reader, the Sun-Times, the Tribune, Clear Channel, Fox, IBM, Microsoft, Saatchi & Saatchi, Second City, Sprint, and Yahoo, and many more in TV, film, advertising, the internet, and beyond.
