Neuberger produces music show in 10 days

Music producer Hank Neuberger shot the Warped Tour’s 15th Anniversary Show in L.A. on Sept. 6, edited in Chicago, and delivered the master in “ten pressure packed and exhilarating days later,” for satellite downloads to 450 theatres nationally Sept. 17.

Neuberger’s Springboard Productions shot the four-hour Warped Tour reunion in HD at the Club Nokia in L.A.

“The show featured the legendary bands that got their start on the Tour — artists like Bad Religion, Katy Perry, Chicago’s own Rise Against among many others,” Neuberger said.

In addition to the bands, the crews captured interviews with people on the tour, and with Warped ‘s founder/promoter Kevin Lyman, who presented a $50,000 check to Music Cares, the Grammy’s philanthropic organization that benefits musicians.

Chicago HD’s Steve Panning supervised the editing team who reduced the four hour concert to a two-hour show.

The show was distributed by Fantom Special, via satellite downloads, in D5 and 5.1 Surround Sound, simultaneously to 450 theatres across the country, including 20 in Illinois.

“The Warped Tour is gigantic,” Neuberger said. “It plays rock and punk rock in 50 venues coast-to-coast, including Chicago, during the summer months to a loyal audience of young adults, 14 to 20.”

The first Tour started in 1994 in Tinley Park at the World Theatre(now the First Midwest) and sold an amazing 23,000 tickets.

This week Neuberger is in Texas working on the video and audio capture of the four-stage, 47 band Austin City Limits Music Festival to be held Oct. 2-4, in Austin.

Neuberger is one of music audio’s greats who is regularly involved in the production of all the big, important music events. Since 1989 he has been the supervisor of broadcast audio for the Grammy Awards telecast, which won a 2009 national Emmy Award for best audio in a telecast.
