There will be more than one doctor in the house when NBC’s “Chicago Med” series settles into Chicago this summer to film alongside two Dick Wolf’s two other Chicago-set series at Cinespace.
The “Chicago Med” pilot did well in the ratings when it was introduced on “Chicago Fire” earlier this season.
It promises “unique new cases inspired by topical events,” of which there is no shortage in Chicago, “forging fiery relationships in the pulse pounding pandemonium of the emergency room.”
The cast includes Oliver Platt (“, S. Epatha Merkerson (from Dick Wolf’s original “Law and Order” series), Laurie Holden (“The Walking Dead”), Nick Gehlfuss (“Shameless”) and Yaya Dacosta (“Whitney”). Cross-over pilot director Joe Chappelle is executive producer.
With his latest creation, producer Dick Wolf has the singular distinction of being the first producer to have two hit franchises on television.
Wolf will co-write with Matt Olmstead, Michael Brandt and Derek Haas.
The addition of “Chicago Med” will put four high-rated shows on Cinespace stages: Wolf’s “Chicago” franchise and the top-rated Fox show, “Empire.” Fox TV also will be filming a pilot there this summer.
