Music Box Films’ third foreign import pays off

One of the five highest-grossing foreign films of 2008 – French import “Tell No One,” grossing more than $6.1 million ? was released nationally by local specialty film distributor, year-old Music Box Films.

Few were as ? happily ? startled by the critical and box-office success of “Tell No One” as William Schopf, president of the art film distribution shop and owner of the Music Box theater.

“It’s just a great film ? particularly in this economy where escapism is appropriate from the troubles we all have,” said Schopf, a lawyer.

“Tell No One,” directed by Guillaume Canet, is only the third film released nationally by Music Box Films and the first to score a hit. The earlier films had extremely modest box office returns.
