Molly Jirasek trades Chicago’s NewsNation for WBND

Molly Jirasek has assumed the position of News Director at South Bend’s ABC affiliate, WBND, marking a significant addition to the station’s team. A native of South Bend, she brings a wealth of experience, having previously worked at NewsNation in Chicago for three years.

Aaron Ramey, the station’s Vice President and General Manager, expressed his excitement about the addition of Molly Jirasek to the ABC 57 News team. “We are continuing to grow our ABC 57 News team, first with the addition of Jennifer Copeland as co-anchor of our early newscasts and now, bringing on Molly as News Director. These additions reinforce our place in the market as the most home-grown and experienced television newsroom in Michiana. Molly will take our news product to the next level.”

According to TV Spy, Jirasek’s career in journalism was inspired by her childhood experiences watching local news in Michiana. She considers it a great honor to serve her hometown community and is dedicated to delivering trustworthy news that matters. Her mission is to provide transparency in her reporting, ensuring the community receives news they can rely on.

Prior to her role at NewsNation, Molly Jirasek served as the Assistant News Director at WEEK in Peoria, Illinois. Her journalism career began in South Bend, where she worked as a multi-media journalist, producer, and anchor at WSJV and WSBT.
