MK Films just announced the arrival of the KIRA 2.0, an ultra-fast motion control robot, which combines the beauty of high-speed filmmaking with robotic engineering. It marks the latest addition to the studio’s arsenal, which already included three motion control rigs.

“With a production landscape that constantly changes, we have to evolve and invest in our technology to be ahead of the curve,” says Executive Producer, Joe Mosko. “Not only will KIRA change the way projects are approached, but I believe it will also be a catalyst for new ideas. Once you see it in action, you can’t help but to dream up possibilities.”

The lightning-fast KIRA 2.0 clocks in up to 4 meters per second for both vertical and horizontal moves and can be equipped with a RED or Phantom camera. KIRA’s simple programming gives cinematographers total control over the movement, focus, iris and zoom for every shot to execute their vision.

“In the world of tabletop, precise, smooth movements are vital, and nothing does that better than KIRA. Even the most complex moves look smooth and effortless,” adds director Darren Weninger. “The shots that can be captured by it are absolutely stunning.”
