
Miller Lite is going gold for its golden anniversary. The iconic brand is celebrating 50 years with striking limited-time gold cans and a sweepstakes that gives 21+ fans a chance to win $500 prepaid cards and exclusive 50th anniversary merch. The golden cans are now rolling out nationwide and will be available through July.
Launched in 1975, Miller Lite has long stood out with its signature white label and bold “Lite” branding. Now, the brand is leaning into its legacy with a new twist on its classic packaging—shiny, collectible gold cans that honor the original light beer’s milestone in style.
“These cans are designed to stop people in their tracks,” said Olivia Jameson, Associate Marketing Manager at Miller Lite. “It’s the same beer you know and love, just dressed for a party 50 years in the making.”
The limited-edition cans come in 12-packs of 16-ounce cans and 24-ounce singles with distinct dark blue lettering to stand out on shelves. According to Jameson, gold has always been part of the brand’s DNA—seen in the barley and hops design central to the logo—making the shift to a gold can a natural choice.
To add to the celebration, Miller Lite is launching a nationwide sweepstakes beginning April 24 through July, where consumers 21+ can win $500 prepaid cards and limited-edition hats from American Needle. Fans can enter by scanning QR codes found on 24-ounce cans and gold 12-pack boxes, or by visiting the entry site.
This is just one part of a full slate of anniversary activations. The brand recently debuted the spot “Legendary Stories Start with a Lite,” voiced by Christopher Walken, which toasts the loyal fans who helped build the legacy. A merch collaboration with Members Only, more product drops, and creative content across social channels are on deck as part of the yearlong celebration.
“We’re marking this milestone all year long,” added Jameson. “The gold can is just the beginning of how we’ll be raising a glass to the original light beer.”
