Marcus Theatres, one of U.S.’ biggest chains, to offer Wisconsin-made films theatrical playdates

Tying in with a Milwaukee-based national theatre chain has intensified Wisconsin’s competitive stance by offering guaranteed theatrical runs on some of its screens to features filmed in Wisconsin.

The unprecedented arrangement between Marcus Theatres ? the seventh largest theatre chain — and Film Wisconsin benefits filmmakers, especially independent producers who bring their projects to Wisconsin.

Said Film Wisconsin’s Scott Robbe” “The state anticipates a significant influx of creative projects now that we can offer filmmakers a guaranteed commercial theatrical run, coupled with our incentives and untapped potential as a film location.”

The Marcus-Film Wisconsin partnership grew out of an idea that board members were tossing around in seeking ways to interest investors in funding Wisconsin-make indie films, Robbe said.
