Mama Mia, what a year ahead for HMS Media

HMS Media, the Emmy-winning arts programming specialists, is looking forward to one of its biggest and busiest years in its 21 years of business.

Between now and May, the Des Plaines-based company is scheduled to complete promotional videos for nine Broadway shows and two documentaries, all the while finishing a PBS Pledge Week show and starting a long-term project with Lookingglass Theatre Company.

Founded by producer/directors Matt Hoffman and Scott Silberstein on Feb. 12 1988, as “two terrified kids out of college,” HMS will finish a one-hour PBS-like doc on “what amounts to a year in the life of ?Mama Mia,'” which in June begins a six-month tour of American cities.

Silberstein describes it as “a look of what goes into a big show, and the environment in which actors bring young families on the road, how often they work and the complexities of musical rehearsals.”
