Macaulay Culkin reprises Kevin McCallister for Home Instead

Home Instead

Just in time for the 35th anniversary of Home Alone, Home Instead and FCB Chicago have teamed up to bring audiences back to the McCallister household, with a touching twist the late John Hughes and Chris Columbus would be proud of.

In Home But Not Alone, the world’s leading provider of in-home care for older adults reunites fans with Macaulay Culkin as a grown-up Kevin, this time determined to keep his mum safe at home. But Kevin soon learns a familiar lesson: he can’t do it all on his own.

Directed by Jody Hill (The Righteous Gemstones), the campaign reimagines a holiday classic through a modern lens. With a blend of humor, nostalgia, and genuine emotion, Home But Not Alone encourages families to start meaningful conversations about caring for their aging loved ones — reminding us that “A Better What’s Next” begins with connection.

In the centerpiece spot, Granddaughter Marley (60 seconds), Kevin’s overprotective antics lead him to wrap everything in the house, from furniture to groceries, in layers of plastic to “keep Mum safe.” His elaborate effort calls back to his childhood schemes while introducing a new generation to Old Man Marley’s legacy. This time, it’s Marley’s granddaughter, shovel in hand, who helps Kevin understand that fear should never stop families from reaching out for help. Watch below:

“We wanted to tell this story authentically, recognising that we all experience this moment with a loved one at some point,” said Jody Hill. “It goes beyond holiday nostalgia to connect with Kevin McCallister years later, as he faces the same concerns many of us have as our parents age. It’s real, it’s funny, and it’s deeply human.”

The campaign also includes shorter companion films: Groceries (:15), Your Turn (:06), and The Delivery (:06), each one echoing the humor and heart of the original film while tackling the emotional reality of caring for family.

“When we think about the holidays, we think of families being together and watching classics like Home Alone,” said Kim Atkinson, Chief Marketing Officer of Home Instead. “These moments often highlight when loved ones might need more support to continue living safely and independently. Starting that conversation can be hard, but it’s the first step toward ensuring dignity, connection, and peace of mind.”

Created with FCB Chicago, Home But Not Alone is the latest expression of Home Instead’s ongoing “A Better What’s Next” platform, underscoring the company’s mission to help older adults stay safe, connected, and cared for — especially during the holidays.

The campaign will air through January 11, running alongside holiday programming including Home Alone broadcasts and major college football matchups.

This Christmas, Home Instead reminds families everywhere that even the most independent of us sometimes need a helping hand — and that the best gift you can give is simply being there.
