Liz Tate and Jim Annerino’s ?leaner, flexible’ Hootenanny post boutique opens at 211 E. Grand

Veteran editors Liz Tate and Jim Annerino opened the doors of their new post boutique, Hootenanny, at a time, Tate says, when ad agencies are ready for leaner, flexible post houses offering the latest technology.

Hootenanny is located in 5,000-sq. ft. of space in what was now-defunct High Tide’s space at 211 E. Grand Ave.

Last month, Tate and Annerino left Avenue Edit after 20 and 15 years, respectively, to form their own post house that covers all media platforms.

“It was a big move for us, but we had come to a place in our careers were we wanted to run our own shop,” she says.

Tate is Hootenanny’s creative editor, Annerino the Smoke/Flame artist and Jerem Sloan an editor. There’s also a part-time tech.

“We hope to have a staff of eight within a year,” Tate says.

Another Avenue Edit alum shares Hootenanny’s space: John Montgomery, who had been Avenue’s lead visual artist and head of HD finishing for a dozen years, operates his own cutting edge company, fxphd, and fxguide.com, a web’zine for visual effects artists.

Company name Hootenanny was choosen, says Tate, “because it means a collaboration of artists, and what’s what we are trying to do with our new company.”

Some of Tate and Annerino’s former clients include Big Ten Network, American Express, American Express, JC Penney and Philip Morris.
