Production has officially wrapped on Cassie Workman is Witchy AF, a bold new adult comedic docuseries blending magic, history, puppets, and sharp wit—executive produced by Lilly Wachowski and Sarah Marie Flores for Anarchists United, alongside Will Battersby and Philip Gelatt for Etch Productions and Lawrence Mattis of Circle Management + Production.
Principal photography concluded March 29 in Asbury Park, New Jersey, where the series filmed at the Wolfe & Kron bookstore and iconic LGBTQ+ bar Georgies. The series is the first to go into production for Anarchists United Studios, Wachowski’s new company aimed at producing elevated genre projects by underrepresented voices. Also in the pipeline from AU: the animated feature Hell Followed With Us, in development with Line Mileage and Trustbridge Entertainment.
Hosted by Australian comedian and storyteller Cassie Workman, Witchy AF is part documentary, part variety show, and fully unhinged in the best way. Set in a fictional occult bookstore (run by Workman), the show dives into the mystic, magical, and metaphysical—tackling everything from Aleister Crowley to the hidden history of Hollywood, Santa Muerte, tarot, demons, love, death, and potential salvation.
Puppetry by Direct Message and practical SFX from Monster in My Closet (Smile 2, Hocus Pocus) bring the arcane to life. The show’s puppet sequences are being designed and directed by Joel Goulet, with Hannah Welever in the director’s chair and Frederic Fasano (Mother of Tears, The Helpsters) serving as director of photography.
This marks the second original series from Etch Productions, whose founders Gelatt, Battersby, and Morgan Galen King also produce First Word on Horror, currently in release on Substack. The company next plans to restore and distribute a long-lost ‘90s-era cable-access series in Fall 2025.
