Eren Joyce, of Libertyville has been selected for the prestigious Television Academy Foundation Summer Internship Program. They will intern this summer in the Children’s Programming Development Department at The Jim Henson Company in Los Angeles.

The Foundation provides eight-week, paid internships annually, at top Hollywood studios and production companies, to college students nationwide.

Joyce attended Libertyville High School and is a 2022 graduate of Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, who majored in Digital Media and Writing-Intensive English. Joyce is one of just 40 students chosen by Television Academy members from across the country for the 2022 program.

“When I first decided I wanted to seek a career in television, I was quite frankly terrified,” said Joyce.  “I didn’t know anyone in the industry, much less what I wanted to do in it. I just knew I wanted to tell stories. As I began to apply for internships, I faced plenty of rejections and had to navigate several personal struggles of my own. After all that, it means the world to me to have been chosen for this internship. It affirms my hard work and that there is a place for people like me–people who rarely if ever got to see themselves represented on television while growing up–in the industry today.”

Established in 1959 as the charitable arm of the Television Academy, the Television Academy Foundation is dedicated to preserving the legacy of television while educating and inspiring those who will shape its future. Through renowned educational and outreach programs, the Foundation seeks to widen the circle of voices our industry represents and to create more opportunity for television to reflect all of society.

The Internship Program by the organization will provide professional development sessions with leaders in the television industry and customized seminars covering personal brand building and navigating the job market ahead for participating students. Interns also become life-long members of the Foundation’s alumni family giving them access to events and networking opportunities as they build their careers in the industry.
