Lennix leads LA cast in indie comedy now filming here

Chicago-based filmmaker Christopher Nolen rounded up an all star cast from LA, led by Chicago natives Harry Lennix (“The Black List”) and Cynda Williams (“One False Move”) and starring TV actor Timon Kyle Durett, for his low-budget romcom, “72 Hours.”

Produced by Nolen’s Nferno Productions, the film is now shooting interiors in a South Holland house and a day at Grant Park, until June 20.

DP is Joe “Jody” Williams, who recently worked on “Jupiter Ascending,” “Divergent” and TV series “Boss.”

Nolen wrote the story and he and Mark Harris (“Black Coffee”) wrote the screenplay about “Von,” a reformed womanizer (Durkett) lives the good life with a beautiful wife, Lanae (Erica Hubbard), and the job of his dreams – until one day he has a heart attack and he’s facing God (Harry Lennix).

In bargaining with God for a second chance at life, Von has 72 hours to right the romantic wrongs he’s made his ex-girlfriends. Determined to live, Von seeks redemption and soon realizes that heaven nor hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.

It also stars Brian Hooks and as Von’s old girlfriends — Terri J. Vaughn, Brety Evans, Erica Brian Hawkins, Brooks, Tangi Miller, Chyna Layne and Thea Camara.

Christopher NolenThe actors are mostly LA-based, who have been friends along the course of their careers and have worked on each other’s projects, says UPM Mary Angela Munez.

“We’re filming in Chicago, because we want the actors who are living and mostly working in LA to know how awesome it is to shoot here,” she adds.

Natasha Parker is producer; Keisha Kidan, Tangi Miller are coproducers; Boston-based Crosby Tatum, editor and music supervisor; production design by Tressa Epps.

Harris and Nolen did the casting and Lucci Di provided extras.

When completed, “72 Hours” could possibly air in 2015 on BET, where Nolen’s two previous features played.
