Headlining IFC/Chicago’s Producers Series May 1-2 is Philadelphia filmmaker Lance Weiler, an innovator in, and advocate of transmedia, an extension of storytelling across multiple platforms that encourages audiences to build community around the content and create content of their own.
He is the creator of WorkBookProject.com, a site for media makers to share resources and experiences about DIY production, distribution and marketing.
Weiler’s 1998 “The Last Broadcast” was the first film to be digitally distributed to theaters.
That film and his 2006 “Head Trauma” have grossed more than $5 million in self-distributed releases, online games and live events.
