Lake County Fest a feast with 100 indies

Founder Nat Dykeman is confident that this year, despite the economy, the 6th annual Lake County Film Festival, March 4-10, at the College of Lake County has all the makings of its best year yet.

The 100 diverse long form and short films ? most from the U.S. ? make it a particularly strong offering, along with three informative panels on aspects of film production.

Sixteen documentaries, 15 narratives and a whopping 66 shorts programmed in categories of Local, Drama, Environmental, Animated and Short Shorts comprise the program.

Execept for three foreign selections, the films were selected from 450 entries from throughout the U.S.

To lead the Animation panel, Dykeman landed superstar animator, filmmaker, fine artist and public artist Patrick Smith of New York ‘s Blend Films.

Smith animates national commercials (Zoloft, Burger King, Visa) and TV shows (FX’s Morgan Spurlock’s “30 Minutes,” several MTV series). His award-winning shorts have played in 70 U.S. and international festivals.
