Actors will have a chance to learn how to sharpen their audition skills when veteran TV, film and stage actor Michael Kostroff (The Wire, king of Queens) teaches his popular “AuditionPsych101” workshop here for two days this weekend.
On Sunday, Aug. 19 Kostroff holds his three-hour workshop for actors in all phases of their careers at Act One. And on Monday, Aug. 20 he teaches it exclusively for members of Chicago Acting in Film Meetup (CAFM).
CAFM is hosting Kostroff, a reprise of his previous and Chicago workshop visit last February. Some CAFM members who attended the previous workshop recommended it as an insightful experience that would benefit the entire membership.
Actress/producer Grace McPhillips founded the group five years ago this month, with the goal of helping its strictly professional, working actors become smarter actors. It has close to 200 members. Steve Scholz is the CAFM co-director with McPhillips.
Kostroff’s Aug. 19 workshop at Act One Studios, 640 N. LaSalle, 6-10 p.m. is on a “pay what can” basis with the suggested amount is $45. Register on Kostroff’s website.
The Aug. 20 CFAM members’ workshop is at The Den Theatre, 1333 N. Milwaukee, second floor, also 6-10 p.m. at no charge.
