L.A. indie feature casting director to conduct first Chicago audition workshop

L.A. Audition Workshop, conducted by Dori Zuckerman, one of the indie feature world’s most active casting directors, will be held in Chicago for the first time Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 2-3 at the Theatre Building.

Zuckerman, a partner with Cathy Henderson in Henderson-Zuckerman, has cast nearly 100 American and international indie features and several TV series during her 13-year career. Although she and Henderson have conducted their workshop in other cities, the October date marks their first time in Chicago.

The workshop is limited to 30 experienced actors. Participants must submit a resume and headshot or photo with their reservation, said actor Joe Kennedy, the workshop’s Chicago coordinator, “so Dori will be able to ?cast’ the actors from their headshots ahead of time.”

On Saturday, the actors will read scenes, be critiqued and redirected. “Sunday will be like a callback, a true audition experience,” said Kennedy. Sessions both days will taped and tapes given to the participants.

“Actors in sets of six will audition, while the others will look at the audition from a production perspective, so when you’re auditioning you get a better understanding of what producers are looking for.”

The Theatre Building is at 1225 W. Belmont. Workshop runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. Fee is $250. Send resume/photo or headshot to Kennedy at 2530 N. Sacramento, #403, Chicago 60647. Or call 847/414-1971.
