JWT names Tony Wallace head of production

After a six month search, J. Walter Thompson named Tony Wallace as director of broadcast production. He joined the agency Nov. 29 after 14 years at FCB as senior producer.

A former editor and director, Wallace headed FCB’s Coors production team.

Working with Wallace in broadcast production are executive producer Carolyn James, senior producer Adrienne Daniel “and a ton of freelancers,” Wallace said. He also oversees video studio manager Dean Campione, editor Mike Berg and audio engineer Johnny Z.

Wallace said he “eventually plans” to beef up the production department in a couple of months. “Right now I have a lot of figuring out to do.”

Wallace was the personal choice of top creative head Graham Woodall, who is responsible for the agency’s product and the recruitment of top creative talent.

Woodall, a Brit who has been called “a world class creative executive,” has been in the process of restructuring the creative and production departments since his arrival last June from D’Arcy, New York, after it was absorbed into Publicis.

JWT and its sister WPP Group agencies, Ogilvy & Mather and Young & Rubicam, will move from their long-time Michigan Ave. addresses to the Merchandise Mart after the first of the year.

JWT is currently located at 900 N. Michigan; phone is 312/951-4000.
